In the Action Plan published in March 2018, the European Commission announced various measures to finance the transition to a sustainable economy. Inter alia, the creation of two new benchmark categories or labels that consider the carbon footprint of the underlying assets (climate benchmarks), and reinforcing and harmonising transparency on ESG goals and factors in the benchmark methodology, in general.
