The 2024 UN Conference on Climate Change or UNFCCC Conference of the Parties, commonly known as COP29, will be the United Nations’ 29th conference on climate change, to take place from 11 to 22 November in Baku, Azerbaijan.  Global temperatures are reaching record levels and extreme weather events are affecting people around the world, which has led the COP29 to bring together leaders from governments, entities and society to find concrete solutions to the most important issue of our time.

A key theme of the COP29 will be financing, as drastically reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting lives and sources of livelihoods from the growing effects of climate change will cost countries trillions of dollars.

The CNMV is focusing its efforts on invigorating the use of capital markets by companies, in order for the Spanish economy to successfully face its transformation towards a more sustainable economy, in addition to being a leader in international regulation in this area.

In this regard, the CNMV has collaborated with IOSCO in the organisation of a specific event titled “IOSCO Event on Carbon Markets”, to take place on November 14th, in the Spanish Pavillion.

The CNMV will also participate in other events related to transition, carbon markets or the importance of sustainable finance in asset management. You will find below a list of events and the links to follow sessions that provide possible attendance via streaming.
